About Joanne Jones, MSW, M.A.

Joanne Jones

For over 20 years I have been helping individuals, couples and families to improve the quality of their relationships. The path to my becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist most likely began with growing up in my family of origin. My observations and reflections on the behaviors and choices of family members seemed interesting and confusing at the same time.

My early work in drug and alcohol outpatient treatment also influenced what I thought about families and how they work together as a family system. "It takes a village" really made sense to me when I noticed differences in clients who were recovering and those who were relapsing. Most of the clients who stayed in recovery had a social support network that included therapy, family, friends, and community support groups.

This idea of family systems and connections between family members furthered my interest in working with couples. In my work with an individual, couple, or family I often think about the significant people in their lives and how they impact each other's behaviors and choices.

The therapeutic models I use in my therapy practice include: Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Structural Therapy.
